Adding an ODBC data source

Creating an ODBC Data Source

On all PCs that have the Dayta Academy System installed you will need to create an ODBC data source for your version of Sage 50.

  • Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator as below depending on type of PC and version of Windows:
  • 32 bit PCs with Windows 7
    • Control Panel
    • Administrative Tools
    • Data Sources (ODBC)
  • 64 bit PCs with Windows 7
    • Select Run and enter the following in the ‘Open’ section
    • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
  • PCs with Windows 10 (both 32 bit and 64 bit)
    • Control Panel
    • Administrative Tools
    • ODBC Data Sources (32-bit)
  • The ODBC Data Source Administrator should look similar to this:

To add a new Data Source, select the ‘System DSN’ tab and click ‘Add’.

Scroll down the list of drivers and select ‘Sage Line 50 v XX’(where XX is the latest version) and click ‘Finish’.

On the next screen enter the appropriate name, for example: ‘AcademySage’ in the ‘Data Source Name’.

In the ‘Data Path’ field enter the path to the Sage 50 data.  If in doubt open Sage, select Help > About and look for the entry in the ‘Program Details’ called ‘Data Directory’.  This will show the data location; if necessary you can click on the link and then copy and paste from Windows Explorer into the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
